She wanted board members to understand how vulnerable students feel when classmates choose a locker room based on gender identity instead of assigned sex at birth.
People can be uncomfortable if members of the OPPOSITE sex are undressing in front of them or if they need to remove their clothes in front of a. anyone at that age and b. a member of the OPPOSITE sex. If kids are supposed to be okay with disregarding modesty, why can't the adults here? Because, modestly is real and awkwardness is real and body differences are real and sex is real and especially awkward for children.
If girls are expected to strip down in front of males and the board thinks that's okay , then why are they offended and outraged when a woman takes off her top and pants in front of them when she has a bikini on. So by your standard it's fine to humiliate girls in locker rooms but the tender feeling of the school board members must be preserved and should not be confronted with their own hypocrisy. BRAVO to this brave mother for standing up for the rights of all girls to privacy at the school.
Precedent. In order to sue the school board she must first do something that forces their hand. This not only does that but it highlights their hypocrisy. We shouldn't need "precedent" to sue government for abuses it engages in but the Judiciary is as corrupt and lazy as the other branches.
UPDATE: "Standing" is the correct term I should have used and not "precedent" although clearly I'm not the only person who was thinking that precedent was correct. That said precedent isn't entirely in accurate b/c she is setting a precent but that is not what she needs in order to take them to court. Thanks to user "Leslie M" for catching that
This update did force a loss of all who had clicked LIKE but I prefer making public corrections then keeping likes.
You're right. I got my terms mixed up; precent and standing. It is standing that she needs where as precedent means to set something like a ruling on something sets a precedent. I'm not a lawyer so you'll have to bare with me on this.
Bravo! Mabe it will make them have a flash of common sense, they don’t care that their daughters or grand daughters are forced to strip down in front of the opposite sex or vice versa???? Come on, this shit has gone too far, it opens the doors to a ton of inappropriate behaviour from bullying to rape.
She was making an important point. Why should students be subjected to it??? Her undressing down to a bathing suit and having them feel the discomfort IS THE POINT.
Idiots and hypocrites.
I'm not for displays like this generally at all but I appreciate the point she was making.
I dont think that mother went there with the intention to disrupt the meeting. Your comment is the perfect example of what her actions is trying to portray the kids have to go through, kids dont go school to change infront of the opposite sex in locker rooms.
Well then I guess you don't mind it when your daughter has to undress in a locker room with males. The rest of us do mind. Beth is trying to change this.

BRAVO!!!!!
Beth Bourne is a hero!!
I’m on her side on this issue, but I really don’t see what this was supposed to accomplish.

That’s really not what precedent means. I get it though; she got their attention and drew national attention to them and their bad policies.

I just want to say thank you to all who clicked on LIKE. It may not seem like a big deal but it is. so thank you
My kinda gal!
Beth very effectively brought attention to the issue at hand: girls’ bathrooms & locker rooms are for 100% viable females!!!!
Awareness to the reality. Similar to parents reading very sexy racy uncomfortable passages in school approved books for children at board meetings
You go, mom! Sometimes people need a good visual to get the message. I hope they got it.
The whole room should’ve stripped down.

I'm disappointed...thought she was going to shed it all....where's the video?
Ridiculous - I don’t go to school board meetings to see parents or anybody else stripping down to their bikini. That was disruptive and unneeded.

Your self-righteousness is nauseating

"Ridiculous - I don’t read Vigilant Fox to learn about school board meetings where I might have my delicate sensibilities provoked."

LOL okay then. Close this tab.
Just like men & boys in spaces reserved for females (like locker & bath rooms)!
Do you go into lockerrooms at school for this reason?
