I cannot even tell you how many people I have tried to explain all these side effects to & they absolutely will not listen at all. They don’t want to hear it.
Well, first off... the Midwestern Doctor's math is incorrect here. Pancreatitis is not 9x more likely. Secondly, studies comparing semaglutide (ozempic) to placebo show no increased incidence of pancreatitis.
Incidence is the key word here. Fear mongers pick a scary side effect like pancreatitis but don't tell you how insanely rare it is.
Makes me wonder what the former FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert Califf has been up to since he left the FDA. What his bank account and stock portfolios look like......
Endless cycle ….the cosmetic injector healthcare providers love the cash business that has lined their pockets via GLP-1 side effects …..Endless cycle …. Always follow the money 💰.
Funny you should say that because I think it’s basically the same thing. We hold our emotional body in our stomachs(our gut brain) and this drug is killing it.
It’s been said that the Grays are future humans who went down the technology path and suppressed their emotions until they had none.
They ended up super smart and unable to give birth in the normal way so they had to use artificial wombs.
This caused a disconnect from the earth and each other giving us sociopaths.
Is destroying the gut in people taking these drugs giving us emotion-less psychopaths?
The Grays so look like meth-heads and Ozempic face is moving towards the look of the Grays.
Call me crazy but I don’t think it will be long before we can time travel.
I know so many people on this stuff. They don’t talk about. They just magically become thin after years of dieting. That’s the tell for me. Most people talk about the process of transformation. GLP-1 users not so much.
I just hope you’re not right. So many people on it.
Fasting is a good way to lose weight and get healthier. My older sister put on 60 pounds when she quit smoking. She’s complaining that Medicare won’t cover some other weight loss drug that doesn’t have the side effects. Right.
Her health care professional told her to eat breakfast because it kickstarts your system. 🤦🏼♀️ oh well.
Smoking has a history of keeping weight off of people. And the weight appears to be more unhealthy than the smoking. I am not an expert, but I have to wonder...
No wonder we fast 2 days a week and also one month a year! Great benefits for detoxing, shedding weight, regenerating cells and getting closer to God, our creator.
Diet and exercise is still very important when taking Ozempic. But diet and exercise alone is very clearly not the best way to lose weight considering roughly 20% of people can lose and keep off more than 10% of their body weight. Diet and exercise is unfortunately a dismal failure by itself.
Problem is that no, proper diet and exercise (ie: eat less move more) doesn't actually work. We all start there and when it ultimately fails, as in after short term loss it all comes back long term regardless of behaviors, Weight Watchers pretty much admitted in court this is why they don't do 5-10 year studies and cut it all off at 2 years, the inevitably of weight cycling is their business model), we start pursuing more drastic measures. I actually had a bottle of some phenfen adjacent crap otc years ago and thank goodness I never took it. Partly because of the page of serious side effects and partly because it was supposed to work by suppressing some insatiable hunger I didn't actually have.
I speak from experience as someone who lost weight 4 times "the safe way" and watched it come back over and over no matter what I did. Worse, I gain an extra 30 every time. I wanted to believe in weight loss, I didn't want to hear the non- weight loss industry claims that once you're a certain weight you can't lose it and the best thing to do is just eat healthy and exercise and not worry about where the weight falls, don't make it the goal, but after seeing those claims play out in real time four damn times, I am done. I've been dedicated to improving the quality of my diet and getting exercise but I have no further interest in trying to control something so clearly not controllable "safely" or otherwise. And I have significantly improved my health and well being despite not losing a single pound, especially in terms of digestion (I used to have stomach issues that have largely gone away).
The worst part is we have as a society internalized this idea that healthy food and exercise is a weight loss penance not worth doing unless it results in aesthetic thinness and not necessary if you are already thin. We tell thin people who live the way everyone assumes fat people live "well if you can get away with it..." even though they don't get away with it and are hugely unhealthy despite their genetic thinness, so many think they don't need to improve anything unless they're fat. And so many fat people b give up on healthy habits when they fail to produce long term large scale weight loss because we've been convinced weight loss is the only possible reason to do such things.
Check out Ragen Chastain's substack, i think it's just called Weight and Healthcare, she does a great job deconstructing the weight loss industry's pseudoscientific bullshit. Because so many are so close while critiquing glp1's but still unable to see the forest for the trees regarding an industry that has been lying about more than statins and blood pressure and mRNA but still considered to be tellng God's own holy truth about fat people.
Watch sunrise grounded to bare earth every morning for 2 months. Get outside throughout the day. Watch sunset. Block the artificial light at night and use amber or red lighting. No LED lights. Turn off the wifi at night. Do this for 2 months and you will lose weight. You will feel better. If you want faster results, buy some deuterium depleted water. Mix in with your regular water. Do cold thermogenesis (cold water submersion or cold shower.) Physics first. Not this calorie in calorie out BS. From a former fat girl, this is the way. Modern science has not caught up. Biochemical inputs will not change a biophysical electrically conductive system.
Eating less and exercising more is pseudoscience? Seriously?
Do you refute that we should all get adequate excercise?
Do you refute that eating too much puts on weight?
Do you know what I do when I've put on too much weight? I eat less. It works. Imagine that!
And if I start putting on too much weight again, then I eat less again. A healthy diet isn't something you do long enough to lose weight, and then go back to binging. A healthy diet needs to be a way of life.
Hey, looks like you didn't bother to read the whole comment for comprehension. Or you would know that I advocate for everyone to eat healthy and exercise. Not just fat people, everyone. Regardless of whether it achieves weight loss or not.
You'd also know that I have lost weight 4 times and watched it come back with extra every time no matter how hard i "ate less moved more". I was actually eating almost nothing the fourth time it came back. If it worked, I'd be thin right now. I eat so little I need vitamin supplements just to stay awake yet I don't lose an ounce.
And yes, calories in calories out eat less move more has long been thoroughly debunked as the glib fat shaming mantra it always was. Weight and health have always been far more complex and nowhere near as controllable as people want to believe when they're oinking at fat people just living their lives, convinced they know exactly everything about that person based on a single visual data point, and patting themselves on the back as heroes for it.
Go read Ragen Chastain's substack Weight and Healthcare and maybe learn how human bodies are not lawnmowers. Lawnmowers are not biological creatures with thousands of biological processes adapted to force surviva
survival outcomes that seem non- intuitive to people who think human bodies are like lawnmowers. Because yes, I literally ate next to nothing and gained back the weight and currently have a healthy lifestyle and don't lose any weight, and there are millions just like me who pissed because we did everything "right" and still ended up fatter than we were before and watching bigots tell us we just need to stop engaging in behaviors we aren't engaging in.
Because there is a whole second non- diet industry connected non- profit body of science supporting a completely different view than what we have been trained to believe that Ragen covers, but even if there wasn't (due to the profit being in selling snake oil to fat people), what happened to me and others is a real phenomenon and no amount of diet industry denial and suppression can change that fact.
There were 55K lawsuits against Ozempic and its manufacturer in '24. Now, I have no idea how many there are because that data is blocked by Google and most search engines. Remember, the largest shareholder for Google (ABC, Inc.) is also the largest shareholder for Novo Nordisk (manufacturer of Ozempic). It's all the same small group of people. Those people raise children to fill roles from toddler age, and then, those toddlers grow up to become what looks like productive, successful people to us.
However, those people grow up to become psychopaths, sociopaths, pathological liars, cheats, and thieves and we (the average Joe & Jane) are none the wiser.
When you are NOT a psychopath, a sociopath, a pathological liar, a cheat, or a thief, it is difficult to spot them b/c their thought process occurs completely differently than you.
When a person steps back and looks at the entire structure, it becomes abundantly clear that the entire system is a Control System. And, of course, they've convinced us, the average Joe & Jane, to do their policing for them via protesting, believing that someone is a fascist, canceling that person via false news reports.... and like I mentioned above, we are none the wiser despite being complicit in their crimes.
Pics showing Ozempic face are darkened in overall tone to accentuate the sags. This is like the greening of Joe Rogan's face after his ivermectin announcement. People get sunken faces with rapid weight loss.
Gallstones happen more often after rapid weight loss, with or without drugs. Gallstone season came right after diet season every single year. It was a cycle. Drugs started by late spring and surgery in the fall.
Some muscle wasting happens after rapid weight loss unless you are very careful with nutrition and exercise.
However, the gastroparesis, intestinal obstructions and the pancreatitis are significant examples of real GLP1 issues to which attention should be given.
People really are going to have to change their lives in order to address obesity. There's no good way around it.
I did not dispense fenfluramine / Redux and phentermine during the fen-phen era and told patients not to do it. Now I tell people that I would not do GLP1 receptor agonists for weight loss alone.
I've observed, throughout my career that diet drugs overall have ranged from disappointing to harmful.
We can tell the truth without generating excess fear porn.
When studied, that works in less than 20% of people. Not a realistic solution by itself but it is an important part of the weight loss that comes with using GLPs.
Many are too lazy to eat better, exercise and quit bad habits. These drugs provide an easy fix unless you’re one of those that gets horrible side effects. Your decision, but know the risks..
You should know how frequently those side effects happen. Many of them are rarer than you think.
You should also know that obesity is associated with increased risk of developing over 200 different diseases. You can't ignore the other side of the equation.
I don’t ignore the obesity issue, it’s real. But many people are lazy, don’t want to eat healthy and change their diet. The pharmaceutical companies will not admit how often the side effects happen. They’re making billions. It’s an easy fix but only as long as you continue taking the drugs. I know people that had to stop taking these drugs because of major negative side effects. Others that tried to stop and gained the weight back. It an individual decision but informed consent seems to be mostly hidden. That’s my issue with these drugs. If you are given the pertinent info, then you can make a decision based on facts. Not happening now!
We don't learn how frequent side effects are from the pharmaceutical companies telling us. There's after-market monitoring and independent studies. The data is known.
Informed consent is absolutely not hidden. We know the risks and how common they are. Ironically, this article gets the math on those risks wrong. So I do see how you can think informed consent is hidden when reading articles like this one.
Informed risk is hidden a lot because of lies during trials and inconsistency of the trial data. Pfizer changed their mRNA C-Jab promoter, never told the FDA, they said safe and effective for pregnant women never studied, the said DNA was lower than allowed which was a direct lie, they had 1223 die in their trial the first 3 months completely hidden. I could go on. After Pfizer jabs murdered my husband by totally depleting his immune system I got to reviewing everything I could find including their study briefing. Even the ingredients they used had one that the manufacturer stated was “not to be used for vet or human use”, only for studies. I know many dead and injured that were healthy prior. A PLANDEMIC OF DESTRUCTION in full swing. Look around your circle of people, lots going on!
Many have eaten better, exercises, quit bad habits, and watched it fall over and over. I did it 4 times, watched the weight pack back on with extra regardless of what I did or didn't do. No i didn't "go back to of habits", especially since i never actually ate or live the way people assume fat people must. That's one of the stupidest weight loss mantras, as if we go from lazy gluttons with no self control then strictly disciplined in all things, then back again over and over. Nobody has that many total 180° personality changes in one lifetime, much less entire groups of people.
Finally gave up and decided to just keep the healthy habits and stop worrying about or trying to manipulate my weight. Raven Chastain's substack is pretty thorough about deconstructing weight loss lies and why its best to pursue healthy habits without making weight loss the goal (all things I didn't want to believe until I saw them unfold in person on my own body.) Because the way it is now, thin people who have crap habits think they're "getting away with it" and fast people who watch good habits fail repeatedly either just give up on the habits or pursue dangerous (and lucrative) bullshit like glp1s. We should all be pursuing better diet and exercise regardless of our weight, for the value of those habits alone and not for the production of a, let's face it, specific anesthetic result. Call it a possible but not likely side effect of god habits, rather than a guarantee or goal.
We see craving-reduction. So decreased gambling and alcohol consumption along with weight loss. There's also a lower risk for suicidal ideation (which is also seen in patients on ozempic to treat diabetes).
absolutely best article thank you my boyfriend did this for three months I stopped him because of your article thank you thank you thank you I tried to stop him prior to him doing this but he was convinced he's not fat he just has a big belly I told him stop drinking beer
The biggest problem with people taking GLP-1 is the dosage. It is given in far too high amounts and causes these issues. Taken in low dosage every 3-4 days, it is fine. No side effects and it lowers food cravings leading to managed weight loss over time. I've been doing it this way for 2 years and I'm not fat, just wanted to cut excess weight and this assists. Too many use it as the defscto cure all and don't do anything else. It helps me cut sugar as I have less cravings and greasy fried food as you literally get sick and shit yourself if eating that crap while on GLP-1. I just got back from a vacation resort and didn't stack my plate full of food like every other person beholden to their cravings. GLP-1 is a tool to be used with others but shouldn't be pushed as the fix.
Surely there must be data behind these claims. Could you point me towards a study that shows decreased dosing every 3-4 days leads to just as much weight loss as standard weekly dosing?
It took FenPhen after I had my daughter in 1992 to help lose 'baby weight'. The office I went to, not a clinic, said we had to meet once weekly and we were to eat only 500 calories a day. After a couple of meeting I asked if it mattered what we ate to get 500 calories and the 'counselor' said 'no'. I said "so 500 calories of baked chicken is the same as 500 calories of Snickers bar?" She just stared at me. I stopped taking it because 500 calories a day was nuts and the whole thing seemed crazy. People with no medical background we opening offices and selling it. Sure enough years down the road I was hospitalized for an infection and someone came running into my room with a machine saying I needed an echocardiogram! When I spoke to the doctor who ordered it he said I needed to see a cardiologist because all 4 of my heart valves were leaking! There is no history of this in my family. I feel certain it was the FenPhen. At least they pulled it off the market in 1997. Now the FDA ignores dangerous side effects. Just like the legislation that gave pharmaceuticals companies legal immunity for harm from vaccines!!
I cannot even tell you how many people I have tried to explain all these side effects to & they absolutely will not listen at all. They don’t want to hear it.
Luanne
I have found in my sixty plus years that most people will never admit that they could possibly be wrong.
They are not willing to look, listen or learn anything that contradicts what they think they already know !!!
Well, first off... the Midwestern Doctor's math is incorrect here. Pancreatitis is not 9x more likely. Secondly, studies comparing semaglutide (ozempic) to placebo show no increased incidence of pancreatitis.

“Not a realistic solution”?? That’s ridiculous.
Yes, a very small amount of people lose enough weight to make a difference and keep it off. Not realistic.
If someone was selling you an investment strategy where less than 20% of people who buy in made money, would you call that a realistic strategy?
