The Covid Royal Commission of Inquiry has been hit by yet another senior-level resignation, with its executive director stepping down just months before the Inquiry is due to complete its work.
Andrew Sweet has resigned from the position he was appointed to in March. Asked why he had quit, Sweet made no comment other than to say, “I reached a decision that it was time for me to pursue other opportunities".
Sweet, an experienced director and consultant, was in the job less than eight months, having replaced the previous executive director Helen Potiki who lasted five months.
Stuff revealed in February Potiki had resigned alongside senior legal counsel Kristy McDonald KC and Nick Whittington, amid concerns about the way the inquiry was being run.
