If Trump was serious about making sure that US citizens get the the same drug prices as the rest of the world, he could solve the problem almost overnight. All he has to do is remove the rule stopping reimportation of drugs into the US. If drugs can be bought cheaply elsewhere and then reimported and sold here at market prices, free market forces will drive the prices in the US down to the low end of what everyone else pays. Basic economics; if prices are not artificially controlled, the free market and competition between sellers will cause prices to fall. This was how Bezos started Amazon, reimporting books that cost much less out of the US and then undercutting all the traditional book stores.
