what about distilled? I distill RO water becuase when I distill regular tap water it leaves scale inside the boiler of my distiller. I tested the ppm of tap, RO, and distilled. Our tap water is around 450 ppm, RO is around 20 ppm, and distilled is around 3 ppm.

If you use a soft water filter it will get rid of the scale.

Thanks to Midwesterrndoctor and the Vigilant Fox for providing excellent information on water. We have a whole house filtering system, so we can bathe without worrying about chemicals in the water; plus a RO unit under our kitchen sink to give us pure water to drink. My daughter went s step further and bought a Clearly Filter unit, which claims to remove over 99% of any toxins that are left. Many people fail to realize another source of pure water comes from the organic fruit and vegetables they consume. The percentage of water in both fruit and vegetables is approximately 75% - 94%. The water in fruit and vegetables can be calculated in the daily amount of water people require. Many who eat processed food are told to drink eight - 8 ounce glasses of water dally, because it does not contain any water. It is important not to drink an excess amount of water daily, as it will stress the kidneys and can break down the bladder.

Can you recommend an RO system for neophytes?

My daughter checked...She bought it from Advanced Aqua Systems 435-652-3908. You could call them to get information on the units...They could tell you the name of what they used.

my daughter handed this, and it was a local company here un Utah. We had it done in 2020...and it is necessary to have the filter changed yearly. I asked my daughter and she doesn't recall it, either.

How about Fiji water (yes in plastic) that Dr. Exley says contains dissolved silica which attaches to aluminum and helps you excrete it?

We love our RO water. For friends who cannot afford RO we've gifted them with Zero Water filtration pitchers.

Wondering what @amidwesterndoctor thinks about Zero Water. Their latest filters out pharmaceuticals, in addition to so much other junk, in city water.

Several alternative treatment sites have suggested ZW, as well, if RO or distilled are not available. Thx.

I use Zero Water as well. The Walmarts closest to me quit stocking the cases of 4 or 8 filters. I can only find singles now. Makes me nuts. But I love Zero Water.

I have been drinking distilled water, and recently I purchased a distilling machine. Makes 1 gallon in about 3 hours.

How did you decided distilled over RO?

Is there evidence that zeta potential is a real thing? I'd like to read about it 🧐

Don’t forget that tap water may contain heavy metals. Here in west central Nebraska, arsenic and uranium is present in the well water. RO removes these as well.

We decided to go with a distiller because of the wasted water that comes with RO. A decent tabletop distiller is less than $100. I start it up when we go to bed and we have a gallon of clean water in the morning. I don’t mind running it during the day in the winter, but not in the summer; too hot. As an aside, didn’t this article read like a paid advertisement?

So, instead you've decided to "waste" electricity. I'm not judging, just pointing out that it's a chosen trade-off.

I suppose I did. There were other reasons for choosing distilled over RO not mentioned in my comment. We have fluoridated water here and some RO systems don’t remove fluoride; you have to do your due diligence. Distilled water has no fluoride, no need to check your particular unit. Lastly, the distiller was under $100 and an RO system would likely be 3 times that. I had a tabletop RO system in the past and I liked the water. Different time, different choice. Cheers.

Chemist here. Aluminum is only molecular active in the presence of acids. The indigenous people in the Andes use aluminum pots for all their cooking, and have no signs of aluminum toxicity...Because their food in PH-neutral. Very boring, too. Now, Philippine food is highly acidic, so AL cookware is a no-no. But fine for other uses.

When I researched RO awhile ago, IT TAKES 15 GALLONS OF WATER TO MAKE 1 GALLON!

If you're paying for your water, that is REAL EXPENSIVE.
