British historians made some nice videos of some of the massive structures the Nazis build during their rule. The most foolish were the extensive, massive fortifications they build on the Channel Islands. Hitler was giddy about actually possessing British territory and spared no expense to keep it. These islands are only a short distance from France. The British immediately determined they were indefensible and of no strategic value. They pulled out all government and military people. Germany moved in and began to build fortifications. They were never used.
Obama's concrete monolith reminds of some of the German fortifications that were never used. I'm guessing that this monolith will not be self-sustaining and will be abandoned if outside money is not provided for staff and upkeep.
