The 41% higher risk in the top quartile is pretty stark, especialy considering it held after adjusting for smoking status. What's interesting is that the association showed up for both non-small cell and small cell subtypes, which have different biological mechanisms. I've noticed in conversations with friends how normalized UPF consumption has become in daily life, like lunch meat making up 11% of total UPF intake in the study seems almost conservative compared to what I see aroundme. Rob Hobson's point about balance is practical but the real issue is that food environment redesign would require policy changes that just aren't happening at any meaningful scale.
