There is a strategic basis for stationing troops in Greenland for both the US and NATO. Both Russia and China have designs on the Arctic. Might as well dissuade them some.
I was stationed in Brussels at NATO Hq. The condescension of Europeans for the Americans was palpable. But, they always had their hands out to us for money and equipment. ALWAYS. And we always ponied up.
