Today I want to do something a little different. Instead of my usual “What’s in the news” update, I want to share a personal story that I think many of you can relate to.

I’ve never talked about this publicly before, but I was diagnosed with ADHD years ago — a label I honestly don’t spend much time thinking about.

But today, I came across a moment on Joe Rogan’s podcast with Lionel Richie that hit home for me. It was exactly what I WISH I’d heard growing up.

Richie and Rogan on ADHD

According to the CDC, an estimated 7 million children aged 3–17 in America have been diagnosed with ADHD.

Many of those kids are quickly put on Adderall, Vyvanse, Ritalin, and other stimulant drugs that paradoxically calm them down so they can sit still in a classroom and “learn” more effectively.

But should we really treat a child’s lack of interest in sitting still at a desk as if it were a disability?

Lionel Richie shared on Rogan’s podcast how his ADD/ADHD, which he struggled with as a kid, ended up “all serving him well.”

His message to parents was blunt: “Leave them [ADHD kids] alone.”

Rogan jumped in with full agreement: “Everybody wants to diagnose everybody and medicate them. I had for sure ADHD when I was a kid. I think everybody that I know that’s talented and creative has ADHD, whatever that means.”

Richie then explained the difference between academic and creative kids — and why forcing one into the box of the other can crush their potential.

“Put them in a creative school where they’re nurtured into their [interests]. Yes, they’re gonna work on math, and, yes, they’ll work on their science, but don’t make that the priority.”

He went on to point out that no one has ever asked to see his college degree or even his high school diploma. He admitted he was a C student.

But in his words, what’s important is not your grades; it’s “What did you end up being? Who did you end up discovering? How comfortable are you with yourself?”

My Take

Richie and Rogan are spot on. In high school, I coasted by with As and Bs because I was naturally smart enough to half-listen in class and still do well on tests.

But once I hit college, everything changed. I was studying something I wasn’t interested in, the learning demand went up, and my report cards reflected that.

My 3.5 GPA dropped to a 2.5, and I couldn’t figure out why. Sure, part of it was effort. But what really crushed me was the LACK OF INTEREST.

For people with ADHD, forcing them to learn something they don’t care about is one of the worst things you can do.

It turns out the “Mozart effect” truly exists, and you don’t have to be a musician to reap the benefits. Take dementia patients, for example.

Professional violinist Ayako Yonetani told The Epoch Times that when she performs for people with dementia, something remarkable happens: they often become more alert, are visibly moved by the music, and at times experience moments of clarity with their families again.

In one particular case, a gray-haired older woman, whose cognition was degraded to sitting motionless with her gaze lowered, suddenly had “her eyes brightened” as she tried to follow along with Yonetani’s performance.

The family reported that “They had never seen her react like this before,” but Ms. Yonetani says this was just one of many times where she noticed a staggering response in dementia patients.

The benefits extend beyond just people with dementia, and the more you expose yourself to classical music, the bigger the benefits become. When classical musicians undergo brain scans, what doctors discover is that certain parts of their brains barely shrink over time.

Specifically, when it comes to gray matter—the part of the brain responsible for processing information, remembering things, and managing emotions—symphony orchestra musicians had significantly higher levels, not just at age 65 but even earlier.

By the time you reach the age of 65, the difference between the two groups is about 70 cubic milliliters of gray matter (440 vs 370), or about 19% more for musicians.

Classical music has been shown to:

• Reduce epileptic brain activity in people prone to seizures

• Strengthen neural connections and improve the brain’s communication network

• Reduce stress, anxiety, and pain

• Improve mood

• Trigger pleasurable “chills” and activate the brain’s reward system

• And it can even make you appear more charming when played during social occasions (such as dates)

What Makes Classical Music Different?

You can think of classical music as kind of a “workout for your brain.” Unlike much of today’s popular music, it weaves together rapid passages, slow sections, and shifts from whisper-soft to megaphone-loud—all intricately connected within a single composition.

With most pop songs, one can often predict exactly how the rest of the song will unfold after hearing the first chorus—even on the very first listen.

That’s not the case with classical music.

It surprises you and stirs deep emotion as it carries you along on a journey. While classical music usually follows precise numerical patterns, the richness and variety within each piece keep the experience fresh and engaging.

Remarkable Lifelong Benefits

After reading The Epoch Times’ piece, I did more digging on classical music, and I was astounded by the benefits.

I always wondered why my high school friends who played an instrument went on to become highly successful engineers, accountants, and business managers, while those I played sports with were more hit-and-miss.

It turns out my anecdotal experience holds true on a national scale.

High school students who participated in an instrumental music program scored, on average, 63 points higher on the verbal section of the SAT and 44 points higher on the math section.

And here’s the stat that’s really profound. High school band members have an 88.4% chance of graduating from college, compared to the national average of just 60.4%. That’s nearly a 50% higher chance of graduating from college based on that one factor alone.

Even modest musical training can have lasting benefits. This study shows that people who had learned to play just a single instrument during childhood, more than 50 years later, still showed a measurable cognitive advantage over those who never played.

To sum it up, if you have a child and want them to succeed in life, encouraging them to learn how to play an instrument could be the most impactful educational decision you ever make as a parent.

Benefits of Listening

For listening, the benefits of classical music are modest when it comes to cognitive gains, but the improvements to anxiety, focus, and other areas are quite significant.

• A 2019 study found that daily classical music listening for two months led to a 12% drop in baseline (trait) anxiety in college students (statistically significant). In other words, their overall anxiety was lower throughout the day, not just while listening to the music.

•In 2021, a review of 12 studies found that listening to Mozart’s Sonata for Two Pianos in D major (K.448) reduced abnormal brain activity linked to seizures in 84% of people with epilepsy.

• A 2007 study found that simply listening to classical music in the background can also help the brain absord and interpret new information more easily.

• In 1993, Nature published a study showing that just ten minutes of listening to classical music can temporarily boost your spatial IQ by around ten points.

• A 2024 study found that patients with treatment-resistant depression had significant mood boosts after listening to classical music.

• Lastly, playing classical music before bed can help you fall asleep faster and improve sleep depth. One study noted that participants fell asleep 35% quicker with soothing classical tracks.

The #1 Benefit of Classical Music

Simply put, it’s fun—and that’s something I didn’t expect. After reading The Epoch Times’ piece on classical music, I decided to give the genre a try, even though I’d never had much interest in it before.

To my surprise, I recognized more songs than I expected… and found them incredibly satisfying to listen to.

After exploring classical music, it’s hard to go back to modern tracks. The variety in classical compositions is like a workout for the brain, constantly keeping it engaged.

Pop songs, on the other hand, get repetitive fast—and you can often predict how they unfold on your first listen.

Try this experiment: listen to Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto No. 4 in F minor. It’s a journey from start to finish, a true work of art. Then play Katy Perry’s California Gurls and tell me it doesn’t feel like brain rot by comparison.

Humanity has made astonishing progress in science, technology, and medicine in recent decades. But more than 300 years after Bach first graced the world with his music, where we are now feels like a huge step backward.

The difference is so stark that it makes you wonder if today’s music is designed to be lacking substance on purpose.

Why I Switched

For years, I lugged those 40-pound, 5-gallon jugs from the store to my car to my kitchen.

But if you set it down too harshly in your car, the jug breaks, causing an instant flood in your backseat. Been there not once, not twice, but three times. Let me tell you, cleaning it up is not fun.

When I got tired of that, I switched to bottled water. But the trash piled up like crazy, and microplastics are still a concern.

So I finally decided to invest in a reverse osmosis system.

What I Got

I researched whole-house systems, which can cost anywhere from $4,000 to $10,000 to install. I’d love to have one, but the price is steep, and the equipment is huge, taking up a lot of valuable space.

Instead, I went with an under-the-sink system. It cost me just over $1,300 with professional installation. You can slash the price in half by installing it yourself, but that is not my skill set.

Now I have a dedicated spout at my kitchen sink. Turn it on, and clean, pure water comes out. If I drain the tank completely, it refills in about an hour. It feels like magic compared to hauling water jugs.

Annual maintenance runs $200 to $300, which includes a professional visit to check and replace the filters. My system, in particular, only needs to be serviced once a year. And I’m saving money compared to buying bottled water.

How It Changed My Life

No more hauling giant jugs. No more bottled water trash. No more worrying about what’s really in my water.

I’m drinking more water, too, because there’s no hassle. It’s just easy.

I wish I’d done this years ago.

How to Get One Yourself

I didn’t do anything fancy. All I did was Google “reverse osmosis water filter near me,” and a number of local dealers came up.

If nothing pops up for you, there are RO systems you can buy online and install yourself, or simply put on your countertop.

A Midwestern Doctor personally vouches for AquaTru as “one of the ‘best’ RO filters on the market.”

They offer countertop and under-the-sink options.

One Important Note

Reverse osmosis removes pretty much everything, including minerals. A Midwestern Doctor recommends supplementing with magnesium if you’re drinking RO water regularly.

Former ESPN broadcaster Sage Steele dropped a stunning revelation on the Tucker Carlson Network Thursday.

Steele, who had worked for ESPN for 17 years, revealed that asking uncomfortable questions about the COVID-19 injections was “absolutely not allowed” on the sports network, “and they were never asked on the network.”

In 2021, Steele made headlines for her critical comments regarding ESPN’s and The Walt Disney Company’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates for employees. In a podcast appearance on “Uncut with Jay Cutler,” Steele expressed her disagreement with the mandates, stating her belief that such policies infringe on personal freedoms. She said, “I respect everyone’s decision, I really do, but to mandate it is sick, and it’s scary to me in many ways.”

Despite her criticism of the mandate, Steele disclosed that she had decided to get vaccinated, citing her desire to continue doing her job and support her family as the primary reason for her compliance. She remarked, “I didn’t want to do it. But I work for a company that mandates it, and I had until September 30th to get it done, or I’m out.”

The Forbidden Question

Steele revealed to Carlson that she “had to lie a lot about things” that she didn’t agree with while working for ESPN and was forbidden to ask questions that undermined the safety and efficacy of the so-called COVID-19 vaccines. Among the off-limits topics was the question of whether COVID-19 vaccines could be linked to the alarming number of instances of athletes collapsing. “Those questions were absolutely not allowed, and they were never asked on the network.”

The massive build-up, the 5,000 missiles, the paragliding attacks, all of that. And so, there was clearly a stand-down there. And now, the West will take more of the people’s rights. Israel will be able to crack down and take more of their people’s rights.”

“We know that the COVID vaccines have done various degrees of damage to the immune system in a fraction of people who’ve taken them,” attested Dr. Harvey Risch in a recent interview with The Epoch Times.

“And that damage could be anywhere from getting COVID more often, getting other infectious diseases, and perhaps it may also be cancer in the longer term,” he warned.

“Because of the dysregulation of the immune responses and the suppression of the immune system by these genetic-based injections ... these cancers that normally would be kept in check by the body are unexpectedly growing very quickly,” said Dr. Ryan Cole in a past interview with Children’s Health Defense.

“I think everyone on this planet should take vitamin D, and I don’t think that’s an underestimate,” expressed accomplished physician and author of 500 peer-reviewed journal articles Dr. Paul Marik.

In an interview with Children’s Health Defense, Dr. Marik explained — similar to how Big Pharma doesn’t like the “I drug” (Ivermectin) for treating COVID-19 — they also don’t like Vitamin D for general health and well-being. In a previous article from Vigilant News, Dr. Marik explained how a daily regimen of taking Vitamin D, fish oil, and a simple exercise program could reduce your risk of cancer by 60%.

“Cancer is going to become the single most important cause of morbidity and death. It’s going to take over from cardiovascular disease, and it’s related to our lifestyle and all the toxins we’re exposed to,” Dr. Marik concluded.

Political commentator Tucker Carlson has issued a grim prediction about the future of American politics and foreign policy. During a recent interview with comedian Adam Carolla, Carlson said the Democrats are well-positioned to clinch victory in the 2024 elections through a series of underhanded and desperate tactics. His warning came amid claims that the Biden administration has lost its handle on the economy and governance, emphasizing that the Democrats may resort to extreme measures to stay in power.

Carlson argued that the majority of voters will soon realize the incompetence of the Biden administration. Carlson also warned about the slippery slope of criminalizing political activity. As a result, Carlson claimed that Democrats “can’t lose” or else they’re going to get indicted themselves. Therefore, “they will do anything to win.”

Dr. Marik is the world’s second-most published critical care physician and has written over 500 peer-reviewed journal articles.

The World Health Organization defines cancer as “a large group of diseases that can start in almost any organ or tissue of the body when abnormal cells grow uncontrollably, go beyond their usual boundaries to invade adjoining parts of the body, and/or spread to other organs.” “Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally, accounting for an estimated 9.6 million deaths, or one in six deaths, in 2018.”

Conventional medicine suggests mutations in the DNA within cells are the primary cause of cancer, but “it’s really due to lifestyle changes, insulin resistance, vitamin D deficiency, obesity, and processed foods that [are] driving this exponential increase in the risk of cancer,” refuted Dr. Marik.

In 1927, Otto Warburg observed a particular effect present in every cancer cell: they have faulty mitochondrial metabolism and rely on anaerobic means for fuel consumption. As such, cancer cells are heavily reliant on glucose. Dr. Warburg “won the Nobel Prize in 1931 for this finding,” reported Dr. Marik.

Building on Dr. Otto Warburg’s research on cancer cell metabolism, Prof. Thomas Seyfried has further advanced the understanding of cancer. He has compellingly shown that cancer should be viewed primarily as a metabolic disorder rather than a mere chromosomal defect. As such, he argues treatments should target the disease’s metabolic nature rather than just its genetic anomalies.

Dr. Marik presented two quotes, emphasizing that cancer is fundamentally a metabolic disease.

The first came from Travis Christofferson, author of Tripping Over the Truth.

“No researcher can point to any single mutation or combination of mutations and say with confidence that it alone is the cause of cancer. Nor can researchers point to a series of cellular systems rendered dysfunctional by mutations and make the same claims with confidence.”

“So, he makes a very strong point, as Dr. Seyfried does, that the chromosomal or genetic changes are really secondary phenomena and not, in almost all cases, the primary cause of cancer,” added Dr. Marik.

The next quote comes from Dr. James Watson, who, along with Francis Crick, is credited with determining the double helix structure of DNA in 1953.

“We may have to turn our main research focus away from decoding the genetic instructions behind cancer and toward understanding the metabolism within cancer cells.”

“I think he [James Watson] knows more about DNA and chromosomes than anyone else on this planet … So, if James Watson thinks that this is a metabolic disease, I’ll take it from him; this is a metabolic disease,” concluded Dr. Marik.

So, if cancer is a metabolic disease, what can we do to prevent it?

Dr. Marik presented a randomized controlled trial published in a peer-reviewed prestigious journal, Frontiers in Aging, which basically shows that “three simple interventions can reduce your risk of cancer.”

“And they looked at vitamin D in a low dose [2000 IU daily], omega-3 was 1 gram a day, [and] a simple home exercise program. And basically, what they showed is the combination of vitamin D, omega-3, and a simple home exercise program that could reduce your hazard ratio by 0.6. So, it reduced your risk of cancer by 60%.” shared Dr. Marik.

Think about that: exercise, sunshine/vitamin D, and Omega-3s can reduce your cancer risk by 60%. None of these interventions, by any means, break the bank. So, if this is your first time hearing this bit of information, it’s likely no mere coincidence.

Dr. Paul Marik also presented his top ten “metabolic interventions to control cancer.”

1. A low carbohydrate, high-fat diet, ketogenic diet + time-restricted eating.

   • “So, you essentially want to starve the cancer cell of glucose. Human cells, healthy cells, can use ketones. Cancer cells can’t use ketones. In fact, it’s toxic to them,” Dr. Marik added.

2. Green tea catechins: 500-1000 mg daily.

3. Melatonin: start 2 mg and increase to 20-30 milligrams at night (extended/low release).

4. Vitamin D3: 20,000 to 50,000 IU/daily.

   • Dosage should be adjusted by blood vitamin D levels aiming for a 25-hydroxyvitamin D level of ~ 100 ng/dl.

   • “Vitamin D is highly effective, and the data showing that vitamin D both prevents and treats cancer is overwhelming. A report in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2002 strongly provided evidence of the role of vitamin D-3. And this explains why the risk of cancer is much higher as you go more north or south [of the equator]. So, as your exposure to ultraviolet D decreases and your vitamin D goes down, your risk of cancer goes up. There’s a very strong relationship between vitamin D levels and your risk of cancer,” Dr. Marik additionally stated.

   • Note: If you're taking a high dose of Vitamin D, scientists such as Dr. Simon Goddek emphasize that you also want to pair it with magnesium, zinc, and Vitamin K2.

5. Metformin: 1000 milligrams twice daily (requires a prescription).

6. Curcumin: (nanocurcumin) 600 milligrams twice daily.

7. Mebendazole: 100-200 mg daily (requires a prescription).

8. Omega-3 FATTY ACIDS: 4 grams a day.

9. Berberine: 500 to 600 milligrams twice daily.

   • Metformin and berberine can be used together or alternating (for one month then switching) depending on the blood glucose levels.

10. Exercise: walking, high-intensity interval training, cycling, etc.

    • Also, stress reduction.

Retired nurse educator Dr. John Campbell dropped yet another explosive video on his Youtube channel Saturday. He shared how the Pandemic Response and Recovery Group, a bipartisan parliamentary group in the United Kingdom, raised concerns about the country's approach to vaccine safety. Notably, evidence suggests that a staggering 98% of adverse reactions to vaccines may not be reported.

At the center of this controversy lies the UK's Yellow Card System, a mechanism to report adverse reactions. Though originally paper-based (hence the name "yellow card"), this system has since gone digital. Nonetheless, its efficacy is now under scrutiny.

According to Carl Heneghan, Professor of Evidence-Based Medicine at the University of Oxford, as little as only 2% of adverse reactions are being reported through this system, rendering it basically useless.
